Tomatina in Buñol,
Tomato juice flows in the streets
Like rivers of blood

  1. Quite sinister for a summer fiesta!

Why don't you try, for experiment's sake, to also do the opposite, i.e., instead of moving from fiesta to bloody, to go from bloody to fiesta (keeping La Tomatina) and shock the reader with the incongruity of the comparison?

Reminds me of the poem "Parsley" by Rita Dove, which also moves from the innocent word parsley to the mass killing of Haitians by Trujillo in 1937 (known as the "Parsley Massacre").
